Our oldest has started kindergarten! Things have been a bit crazy around here because of the holiday-shortened first week that coincided with all of heading to Michigan for my cousin’s wedding, plus another trip for my folks last week, but I still wanted to take a few moments and talk about this wild new ride we’re on. Hi Gang, welcome to the 100th episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast. I have an awesome guest with me this time and it’s my amazing wife Emily! This episode follows a brand new format and I think it’s pretty snazzy! If you want to compare this episode the first one, you can listen to it here.
Here’s a behind the scenes look at the outline we were working on off of the big board:
And this is a picture of what my wife calls a Boyfriend Pillow, but what Target calls a Bed Rest Pillow.
Meanwhile, Bedknobs and Broomsticks is far more entertaining than Babes In Toyland.
I thought Adventures Time Season 5 was parentally informative, but Em’s still not a big fan of our 4 year old watching it. We’re both not sure about Monster High.
Book-wise, I’m a big fan of all three of these, even if Jack thinks books should all have touchscreens. Frozen Fever: Anna’s Birthday Surprise, Joy’s Greatest Joy/Simply Sadness and Oh, The Thinks You Can Think! are aces in my book.
Unfortunately, these two have seen better days, so I’m going to try cleaning them up with some Clearasil Stayclear Vanishing Acne Cream as suggested on this site. I’ll let you know how it goes.
This week’s Pop Poppa Seal Of Approval goes to Jack’s favorite toy, the Kid O Hide and Seek Discs!
The crazy-delayed 99th episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast is finally here, even though it was recorded nearly a month ago! Just push play to hear about surviving a sick house, going “down the Shore,” one crazy night and my first official comic book pitch!
The comic shop I mentioned visiting is called October Country. It’s in New Paltz and it’s rad.
I’m not sure when I’ll be back for the next episode, but I’ve got a few fun things planned to celebrate the hundredth episode! Stay tuned!
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 86 covers Christmas, sickness, sleep and Sh-Ra with a surprise appearance by Lucy!
For more information on Watts Christmas Wonderland, check out their site. Above you can see a shaky shot of the light-filled neighborhood we discovered and the solid Santa at the Newburgh Mall.
My First Disney Princess Frozen Snow Glow Elsa Singing Doll was a big hit with Lu. She also got Frozen stickers, jammies, jelly beans, slippers and more.
Above you can see She-Ra – Princess of Power – Season One, Vol. 1 as well as Lu brandishing her paper roll She-Ra sword!
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 47 is all about our recent vacation in Walt Disney World. This one’s got detailed information about the Grand Floridian Vacation Club Villa tubs, the super long wait to see the princesses from Frozen and digging out after we got back.
The Disney Jr. character breakfast I mentioned in Hollywood Studios is at the restaurant Hollywood & Vine.
I still haven’t had a chance to download all the pictures off of our camera because of space issues, but you’ll see them as I get caught up on Photo Diaries.
This week’s episode delves deep into the topic of strange sleep cycles, Lu successfully staying quiet during one of my interviews for work and talk of Disney and Toy Fair. Sorry about the difference in sound around the 22 minute mark. I lost about 10 minutes of the original recording and had to get back in there and do a replacement track.
To hear about Lucy’s first trip to Disney check out PPNC Episode 11.
Thanks to New Year’s I got a bit delayed in posting the 41st episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast. This one’s all about traveling to and from Michigan, Christmas, family and the time my car got stolen via plow a few weeks ago.
We’re pretty light on links this week, but if you want to check out the Lose It app go here.
My apologies for the lack of episode last week and this one’s lateness, but life tends to get in the way of all my internet aspirations. Anyway, the 27th episode of the Pop Poppa Nap Cast runs down our recent vacation to Ipswich, gives an update on our house hunt and gives the Pop Poppa Of The Week to one of my favorite authors!
Tangled is a reimagining of the Rapunzel story. It’s pretty cute, but just about everything loses its cuteness after the 300th viewing.
I thought I’d done a post about my dislike of PBS’ Sid the Science Kid, but apparently I hadn’t. Basically, no other kid show bothers me this much. Even though the general message is “science is cool,” something I completely agree with, it just seems incredibly dumb and filled with one-note characters. Bleh.
Here’s the Geek Mom article about the new season of Sesame Street! Thank Henson for new content.
Jill Thompson’s excellent The Little Endless Storybook and Delirium’s Party: A Little Endless Storybook earned the Pop Poppa Seal Of Approval. I also recommend reading the actual Sandman comics either in regular trade form or the exquisite Absolute editions.
And, finally, Brad Meltzer easily earned the Pop Poppa Of The Week, not just for writing a series of novels I’ve gotten hours of entertainment out of, but also reminding me how important it is to tell your story to the world. Seriously, check out The Book of Lies, it’s pretty darn great. I wrote a review of it a few years back over on UnitedMonkee, check it out!
The much anticipated 19th episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast is finally here! Sorry about the delay, but now you can not only hear about the trip out to Michigan, but also our recent foray into realty open houses and the ridiculously hot weather.
The portable DVD player holder my wife picked up is called Case Logic PDVD-9 7-9-Inch Dual Screen DVD Player Case, Black. The player itself is an Insignia model that’s probably five or six years old at this point but still works well.
I reviewed Patricia Cornwell’s Port Mortuary audiobook here.
Just for fun, here’s a clip of Talking Tina form The Twilight Zone.
And, of course, here’s the inimitable Red Forman, this week’s Pop Poppa Of The Week from That 70s Show.
