In my continued efforts to dig myself out of the ginormous hole I’ve made when it comes to Photo Diary, I now present you with the second half of February all in one post! If you’re looking for the first installment, click here.
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 96 covers my new job writing for Geek.com, my better mood thanks to the weather and how I hope that leads to better times with my kids this summer!
If you’re in the Orange County area and like comics, do yourself a favor and check out October Country in New Paltz.
I wrote about fried-egg-coverd BLTs in this post, which you should absolutely check out. Fried eggs also played into Feed Me Phoebe’s excellent Mexican Sweet Potato Hash with Black Beans and Spinach and Smitten Kitchen’s fantastic Spaghetti Pangrattato with Crispy Eggs.
In an effort to make up for no episode last week, I’m posting The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 95 a bit early this week. I’m feeling good lately thanks to the snow melt and a working car, plus I’m looking forward to seeing where Jack’s next year will take us!
It’s not overly clear in the recording, but Lu’s version of “All About That Bass” translates into “All ’bout that face, ’bout that face, ’bout that face, no travel.”
Kid O is awesome, do yourself a favor and check out their stuff.
Here’s the poo mug I mentioned. I still haven’t been able to figure out which booth it was at.
If you’re unfamiliar, this is what LEGO Friends sets look like. The characters are a bit more doll like and the colors more in the pastel spectrum. The woman I talked to told me they spent four years researching the kinds of LEGO sets girls would want to play with and these were the results.
Apologies once again for the late episode, but the 85th episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast covers pre-Christmas preparations, our continued sleep issues and Lu’s adventures with my Star Wars toys.
My original Itzbeen post can be found here.
2 Alices really is the best, they just opened up a second location in Newburgh. Check it out if you’re in the Orange County area!
Here’s a few Star Wars toy photos. First, you’ve got Lu going through the box, then Mighty Mugg Mace Windu. The red-armored Luke figure I mentioned is officially called Luke Skywalker in Imperial Guard Disguise according to RebelScum.com.
Lu and Jack both got in on the Christmas tree-decorating action.
If you want to hear more about Eggbert, check out the Christmas podcast I did with my pal Brett a few weeks back.
I thought I’d talked about the Mickey Christmas specials I mentioned on Netflix, but apparently I haven’t. They are Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas and Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, or as my daughter calls them Mickey Christmas Red and Mickey Christmas Blue.
Charlie and Lola, Vol. 2 and I can’t seem to find the exact Hello Kitty DVD after minimal searching.
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 72 gets into our new house, my three worst days as a dad and a scary encounter on the train tracks. Also, I’m joined by my recent co-host Jack who grunts and snorts his way through the episode.
The post I wrote about colic her on PopPoppa can be found here.
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 53 runs down our recent trip to the playground, the end of car troubles and the million and one things that have been making me crazy lately. Fun stuff!
Not much in the way of notes this time around, just me talking about myself.
If you were looking for updates on my car problems, our house hunt and baby movement, then the 44th episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast is for you!
The Colosseum is in Salem, NH. Go there. It’s fantastic.
If my story about a bad job interview that I was completely unqualified for didn’t bore you to tears, you can hear me talk about another weird interview, plus my career at Wizard in the episode of Matt & Brett Love Comics I was on.
You can either scroll down to check out my Despicable Me 2 review below or click this link.
Thanks to New Year’s I got a bit delayed in posting the 41st episode of The Pop Poppa Nap Cast. This one’s all about traveling to and from Michigan, Christmas, family and the time my car got stolen via plow a few weeks ago.
We’re pretty light on links this week, but if you want to check out the Lose It app go here.
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 36 recounts some recent upticks, our recent house search and the popularity amongst my friends to be stay or work from home dads.
Ephraim Goodweather, the star of The Strain books got The Pop Poppa Of The Week for doing his best in a world turned upside down. The Fall is part of my Ambitious Halloween Reading List.
And Netflix Instant got the Pop Poppa Seal Of Approval, possibly for the second time. Also, when I mentioned Borders, I meant to say it’s closed, not closing.
The Pop Poppa Nap Cast Episode 35 features a detailed recounting of our trip to Philadelphia, a few super-cute Lucy things and a few words about helping Detroit. Sorry about the weird background noise this episode, I had the computer too close to the mic, the dryer was going and I poured some coffee around the 7:00 minute mark.
The hotel we stayed at in Philly was the Sheraton, check out their site here. My only real complaint about the place: no free wifi. On the plus side, the $7 gin and tonics were super great.
If you’re in Philly, I highly recommend checking out Reading Terminal Market.
Note that the water pouring sound around the 7:00 minute mark is just me pouring myself a cup of coffee from my mini French press and not audio of anyone peeing in the background.
Dinic’s is fantastic. Go there.
The Please Touch Museum might have driven me nuts, but I’m sure your kids will love it.
Check out Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown site about the Detroit episode. I wasn’t able to find too many aid sites, but you might be able to find some resources through that site.
